Project Description
In February 2017, the United States Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) accepted 36 acres of land into trust for the benefit of the Wilton Rancheria Indian Tribe (Tribe) for the development of a proposed casino resort project in the City of Elk Grove. The land is located at the northwest portion of the intersection of Grant Line Road and SR-99.

Project Next Steps
On March 9, 2021 the Wilton Rancheria Tribe hosted a groundbreaking ceremony forSky River Casino. This project is now under construction.
In 2016, the City and the Tribe executed aMemorandum of Understanding(MOU) that provides funding to the City of Elk Grove, Elk Grove Unified School District and local non-profit organizations to pay for services such as law enforcement and traffic impacts and compensate for loss of tax revenue. The total cumulative payments from the Tribe to the community over 20 years is approximately $132 million. Sacramento County approved a similar agreement with the Tribe that mitigates impacts to the court system, county roads, and social services including problem gambling, drug and alcohol and domestic violence programs.
