Posted: 04/19/2015

Elk Grove’s health and fitness festival, GO Fest, will be held on Sunday, April 26 on Longleaf Drive located between Big Horn Boulevard and Laguna Springs Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Coordination of the street festival, a 5K fun run, and 12 mile bike cruise has resulted in the following traffic advisory for motorists travelling through central Elk Grove on Sunday, April 26:

  • Longleaf Drive will be closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. for GO Fest
    • Please use Laguna Boulevard or Elk Grove Blvd are alternative routes.
  • Laguna Springs Drive will be closed for GO Run between 9:00-10:30 a.m.
    • Use Big Horn Blvd. as an alternate north/south route
  • Big Horn Blvd. will be temporarily closed for GO Ride at 11:00 a.m.
    • Use Laguna Springs Drive as an alternate north/south route between 11-11:30 a.m.

In celebration of “May is Bike Month,” a 12 mile community bike ride, GO Ride, will take 150 pre-registered riders from the Festival site to parts throughout the City.  Road closures are not in place for much of the GO Ride route and riders have been instructed to follow the traffic laws.  Motorists are encouraged to share the road and be courteous to all cyclists during this event and throughout the year.

Residents and visitors are invited to attend GO Fest, a free community fitness festival.  Event parking is available at the California Correctional Health Care Services lots off Laguna Springs Drive and Big Horn Boulevard.

GO Fest is presented by the City of Elk Grove, Kaiser Permanente, May is Bike Month, The Running Zone, Moms in Motion, Pappas Investments, Elk Grove Strength and Conditioning, Cosumnes CSD, Ardent Magazine, Encore Dance Studio, Bravo’s Soup and Sandwich Shoppe, and NOW 100.5.

GO Fest is part of a year-round sports and fitness marketing campaign launched by the City of Elk Grove in 2014 to promote local amenities supporting healthy living options for Elk Grove residents and visitors.  More than 2,000 guests attended GO Fest in 2014.
