Process to File a Complaint

  • Contact Animal Services during office hours at (916) 687-3042
  • Customer Service Specialist will interview the complainant and file a report
  • A letter will be mailed out to the animal owner advising them of a complaint filed along with information on Tips to help curb excessive barking
  • A letter will be mailed to the complainant along with bark logs. Complainant will need to speak with neighbors to request their involvement of keeping a bark log for 7-10 days. At least two (2) bark logs must be returned to Animal Services within 30-days
  • If bark logs are received, the report will then be assigned to an Animal Control Officer. If no bark logs are returned the report will be closed with no further investigation
