Lost a Pet?

  1. Check if Your Animal is at the Shelter

    Search our database of found dogs and found cats.

  2. Contact Animal Services

  3. Complete the Lost Pet Information Card

    Submit it online or in person

  4. Get the Word Out!

    Don't assume your pet will find their way home. Create a flyer and post it around your neighborhood. Keep it simple, use bold letters to make it east to read and include:

    • Current Photo (if available)
    • Basic Description (Type, breed, color, sex, etc)
    • Contact information

    Leave flyers at local veterinarians, pet related stores, share on social media sites like Facebook, Elk Grove Pets Lost and Found, NextDoor, Pawboost and Craigslist.

    See if your pet is at one of their facilities:

  2. Take the Animal to a Veterinarian

    Or allow one of our officers to come out to scan the pet for a microchip.

    If you are willing to hold the animal, complete the found pet report online , in person or by phone (916) 687-3042 during regular business hours or after hours (916) 714-5115.

    See if the pet has been brought to one of their facilities:
