Grass may be damp so consider a tarp or other material to go under your blanket.

Game Rules and How to Play

Stay Alive Elk Grove is a live action zombie tag game taking place at Elk Grove Regional Park. Humans must race between checkpoints trying to outrun the killer zombies lying in wait to infect them. The goal is to “Stay Alive”, not be infected, and make it to the finish line where your safety is guaranteed!

  • When you arrive, you will check in with staff and be given a map of the checkpoints, a special bracelet to identify you as human or zombie, and general rules of the game
  • Water will be provided to all participants free of charge
  • If you get tagged by a zombie, your luck has run out and you are now infected. You can now infect as many other humans as you possibly can.
  • You need to check in at a minimum of 5 of the 7 checkpoints, including the safe return to Base Camp, in order to Stay Alive
  • Checkpoints are across the park and are safe zones where zombies cannot enter…take a breath, re-coup, and then take off to your next checkpoint
  • Once tagged, turn on your special glow bracelet so others know you are a zombie and you can begin tagging humans.
  • Please show restraint and respect for your fellow participants when tagging them. Consider it a game of two hand touch not tackle tag.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that you can run in!  Zombies are pretty darn fast and you need to out-run them to each checkpoint to stay alive. We recommend loose fitting shirts, shorts and tennis shoes
  • We also encourage you to dress up in themed garb!

Prizes will be awarded to the following participants:

  • First to finish
  • First under 15 to finish
  • First over 50 to finish
  • Best zombified make-up/costume
