The City of Elk Grove hosts waste tire collection events one week per month at 9255 Disposal Lane in the Bulky Waste Dropoff area. Residents from anywhere in Sacramento County can drop off waste tires for free.

Where are your tire collection events held?

At 9255 Disposal Lane in the Recycle Area of our Special Waste Collection Center which is located off Survey Rd and Grant Line Rd.

What days and times can I drop off tires?

Sunday through Wednesday 9:00am to 3:00pm during a scheduled tire collection event.

How many tires can I bring at once?

Residents can bring up to 9 tires per collection event.

What if I have more than 9 tires? How do I get rid of more than 9 tires?

Because this is a grant-funded program, it is limited to 9 tires, or 20 with an appropriate written authorization from the LEA (Local Enforcement Agency). Additional tires can be dropped off at a future event or can be disposed at a landfill.

What type of tires are accepted?

The following waste tires will be accepted:

  • Passenger (automobile)
  • Motorcycle tires
  • Truck "over-the-road" tires
  • Bicycle tires
  • Excluding large agricultural tractor type tires
Do you accept tires with rims?

Yes, tires with rims are accepted.

I’m a small business that repairs passenger vehicle tires, can I bring our waste tires for proper recycling?

No. Tire collection events are funded by a grant. The grant guidelines specifically indicate that tires will not be accepted from tire businesses. Waste tires will not be accepted if transported in a company/contractor vehicle.
