  • On June 18, 2020, in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, California mandated that people must wear a face covering or mask when in public settings, including when waiting for or riding public transit and paratransit services. Effective immediately, e-tran and e-van passengers are required to wear a face covering or mask when using the City's transit services. Masks may be provided by e-tran to boarding passengers that do not have one, pending available supplies. However, e-tran drivers may refuse service to any passenger(s) that are not compliant with this order. Passengers under the age of two (2) years old, those with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents them from wearing a face covering, and persons who are hearing impaired or communicating with a person who is hearing impaired are exempt from this requirement. For more information regarding this state order, please visit the California Department of Public Health's webpage.

  • On April 13, 2020, e-tran services were temporarily reduced until further notice; however, some limited commuter service trips will resume again on June 22, 2020:

  • On Wednesday March 25, 2020, the City Council adopted a policy and procedures that give the City Manager the authority to modify, reduce, and/or suspend City transit services during a declared emergency event. While the policy and procedures are not intended to dictate exactly what service changes will occur and when, they provide general guidelines and options to respond to ridership loss, bus operator availability, government health and safety orders, and other unforeseen service impacts during an emergency event.

We know that each decision made to modify the City's transit services has an impact on our riders beyond just our transit operations. Keeping this in mind, e-tran has made the difficult decision to temporarily reduce some services at this time due to COVID-19 impacts to transit ridership and bus driver availability. The City will continue to monitor any further impacts to Elk Grove’s transit services and coordinate with the City’s contracted transit provider, Sacramento Regional Transit District, to determine if any additional service changes may be necessary under the present circumstances. The City is also making every effort to maintain as many essential transit services and service coverage, as possible, considering available resources and current health and safety directives.

We encourage all our customers to please sign up for the City’s electronic Rider Alert notification system. This will allow us to notify you either by text or e-mail regarding any unforeseen schedule adjustments, route modifications, and/or service reductions/suspensions. If you cannot receive Rider Alerts via text or e-mail, please call the e-tran customer service line at (916) 683-8726 to find out about your route or service.

We appreciate your continued understanding and patience regarding any unforeseen service changes as they may arise during this time. View more information about the City's response to the COVID-19 situation.
