April 13, 2022 - City Council Regular Meeting - Public Hearing to adopt the Final District Map Item 8.2

On April 13, 2022 a staff report provided an overview for the final district map for adoption. The April 13, 2022 meeting video includes the action taken to adopt Resolution No. 2022-077 adopting legal descriptions and map of City Council Member Residency Districts.


April 5, 2022 - Posting of the Updated Map 11 to include the annexation area

On April 5, 2022 the updated map to include the recent annexation area for Map 11 of the City Council posted to the City website (the demographic information remained the same as the area was zero population).


March 23, 2022 - City Council Regular Meeting - Public Hearing staff presentation on the demographics of the three draft maps plans Item 8.2

On March 23, 2022 a staff report provided a presentation on the demographics of the three draft district maps of the City Council to select select a final map for moving forward to a final decision. The March 23, 2022 meeting video includes the visual presentation given by staff, and addressed maps submitted up to the date of the meeting of March 23, 2022 displayed in the staff memo and comments submitted for City Council consideration.


March 16, 2022 - Posting of Demographic Data for the three draft map plans

On March 16, 2022 the demographic information for the three draft map plans of the City Council posted to the City website.


March 9, 2022 - City Council Regular Meeting - Public Hearing staff presentation on Review and Evaluation of Proposed District Maps Item 8.2

On March 9, 2022 a staff report provided an update on the Redistricting Project including the public workshop outreach hosted during the weeks of February 21-March 3, and a discussion, evaluation, and review of proposed district maps to select maps for moving forward for a final decision. The March 9, 2022 meeting video includes the visual presentation given by staff, and addressed maps submitted up to the date of the meeting of March 9, 2022 displayed in the staff memo submitted for City Council consideration.


March 4, 2022 - Administrative deadline to receive draft map submittals and community of interest submittals

March 4, 2022 was established as an administrative deadline to receive draft maps submittals to make the publishing timeframes of the agenda staff report. The staff report has analysis of the fourteen (14) draft map submittals received by the administrative deadline, subsequent staff memos received up to the date of the March 9, 2022 public hearing included an additional seven (7) map submittals (for a total of 21 draft map submittals reviewed during the public hearing held March 9, 2022).

On March 3, 2022 an introductory visual presentation was given by staff along with a tutorial on using the drawEG DistrictR program.

February 24, 2022 - Historic Preservation Committee Special Meeting - Staff Presentation Item 5.1

On February 24, 2022 an introductory visual presentation was given by staff to the Arts Commission.


February 23, 2022 - City Council Regular Meeting - Public Hearing staff presentation on Communities of Interest Item 8.1

On February 23, 2022 a staff report provided an update on the Redistricting Project outreach plan to the community, and staff provided examples of Communities of Interest and possible local principles of redistricting for consideration when evaluating map submittals. The February 23, 2022 meeting video includes the visual presentation given by staff.


February 22, 2022 -Teleconference, Walk-Up Outdoor Event, and In-Person Hybrid Workshop walk-through at District56 Veterans Hall.

On February 22, 2022 staff successfully tested connections for maintaining a virtual Zoom environment at in-person meetings (both outdoor and indoor settings, well, sort of outdoor, in the lobby of District56 as it rained!).


February 21, 2022 -Teleconference, Walk-Up Outdoor Event, and In-Person Hybrid Workshop walk-through at City Hall.

February 11, 2022 - Map drawing tools available via drawEG

Map drawing tools, for both identifying Communities of Interest, as well as drafting district plan map submittals, posted on the Redistricting Project site, drawEG utilizing the program DistricR .


February 9, 2022 - City Council Regular Meeting - Presentation by National Demographics Corporation Item 8.2

On February 9, 2022 a staff report provided an update on the Redistricting Project outreach plan to the community, and National Demographics Corporation provided an overview of the principles of redistricting and looked at preliminary data from the 2020 Census. The February 9, 2022 meeting video includes the visual presentation given by National Demographics Corporation.


February 8, 2022 - Youth Commission Regular Meeting - Staff Presentation Item 5.2

On February 8, 2022 an introductory visual presentation was given by staff to the Youth Commission.

On February 2, 2022 an informational outreach booth located at Old Town Plaza during the Food Truck Mania event offered information on how to find out more about the Redistricting Project process.

On February 1, 2022 an informational outreach booth located at District56 during the Take-Out Tuesday event offered information on how to find out more about the Redistricting Project process.


January 26, 2022 - City Council Regular Meeting - Staff Presentation Item 8.1

On January 26, 2022 a staff report provided an overview of the principles of redistricting, looked at preliminary data from the 2020 Census, and presented the outreach plan to the community. The January 26, 2022 meeting video includes the visual presentation given by staff.


January 12, 2022 - City Council Regular Meeting - Staff Presentation Item 9.3

On January 12, 2022 an introductory staff report provided information on the Redistricting Project timeline, but as was noted under staff memo submitted on January 10, 2022 a new vendor for demographic services continued to be coordinated. Community outreach would continue as planned throughout the end of January and into February on how to participate in the redistricting process. The January 12, 2022 meeting video includes the visual presentation given by staff.


Request for Proposals initiated in 2021

A Request for Proposals was issued in November 2021, with a due date of December 3, 2021. One (1) proposal was received. The one proposing firm informed the City of Elk Grove it would not be able to proceed with servicing the contract.
