Elk Grove, Calif. – Elk Grove City Manager Laura S. Gill announced today the selection of Assistant Chief Bryan Noblett as the next Chief of Police of the Elk Grove Police Department.

“Chief Noblett has the knowledge, experience, and local perspective to keep Elk Grove’s Police Department moving in the right direction,” said Gill. “As an Elk Grove resident for more than 25 years, he knows this community. As a former Captain and its current Assistant Chief, he knows this Police Department. He is by far the most qualified person to lead the Elk Grove Police Department into this next chapter in its history.”

Chief Noblett has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience in the greater Sacramento region. His career includes 24 years with the Lodi Police Department serving as a patrol officer, detective, Field Training Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He was hired as Captain of the Elk Grove Police Department in 2009 commanding the Investigative Services and Field Services Divisions. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief and has served as second-in-command to Chief Robert Lehner and the City’s Emergency Operations Manager since July 2015.

Chief Noblett holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. He has also completed a number of professional programs including the FBI National Academy and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) Senior Management Institute.

“Chief Noblett is the right choice for Elk Grove,” said Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis. “Public safety is the most fundamental responsibility we have to our community and I wholeheartedly support the City Manager’s selection. As someone who has worked alongside Chief Lehner for the past seven years, Chief Noblett is uniquely qualified to perpetuate the standard of excellence and professionalism we expect and deserve from the Elk Grove Police Department.”

The City Manager was joined by members of the Elk Grove City Council, Assembly Member Jim Cooper and several community members for the announcement during a press conference earlier today. Chief Noblett will assume his new duties beginning on October 3 working alongside the retiring Chief Robert Lehner who will assist with the transition through the end of October.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to have been selected by City Manager Laura Gill to serve as the next Police Chief of this outstanding organization,” said Noblett. “As a longtime resident of Elk Grove, I am committed to working collaboratively with community members and members of our Department to keep Elk Grove the safe, vibrant city it has quickly become. The City of Elk Grove and EGPD are made up of dedicated, caring professionals with whom it will be my pleasure to continue to serve our community.”

Chief Noblett will be Elk Grove’s third Police Chief since its formation on July 1, 2006. For more information about the Elk Grove Police Department, visit
