Press Release - Elk Grove’s July 4th Fireworks Show Will Go On

“Our Sky Concert is very different from a typical firework show. To my knowledge, it’s the only one of its kind in the State,” said Elk Grove City Manager, Jason Behrmann.

Elk Grove traditionally hosts a festival that attracts more than 20,000 guests to Elk Grove Park. This year will be different. Instead, the City is encouraging residents to “look up or tune in” where they live. The show has a new secret location and will feature larger shells, higher displays, and is anticipated to offer greater visibility from neighborhoods throughout the city. Residents within Elk Grove and the greater Sacramento area can tune into 93.7 The River (93.7FM) to hear the fireworks soundtrack. Those out of the viewing range are encouraged to tune into the live broadcast on ABC10 beginning at 9:30 p.m.

“Unfortunately, COVID-19 numbers are on the rise in our area, but our sky concert allows us to comply with County and State Health guidelines and still offer our community a way to connect and celebrate safely,” said Behrmann. “It’s another way we’re letting them know that we are still in this together.”

According to the Sacramento County Public Health Department, most of the recent COVID-19 cases have been the result of individuals gathering with friends and extended family. Gatherings of any size among people that don’t live together are currently prohibited in the county of Sacramento. The City of Elk Grove joins the County of Sacramento in urging Elk Grove residents to celebrate safely in place with their household this Independence Day.
