Elk Grove Pantry Challenge

Posted: 04/13/2020

Dear Elk Grove Neighbors:

The City Council and staff hope that this email finds you safe and well during this difficult time. With so many of our friends and neighbors facing job losses or illness, it’s easy to start feeling helpless in the face of challenging circumstances. This note is intended to share a simple, low/no cost way you can help make a difference for families in our community.

The City is partnering with the Elk Grove Food Bank to launch the Elk Grove Pantry Challenge. We’re asking you to reach out to your neighborhood sphere of influence and encourage your neighbors to clear out their cupboards of food they may not use that could nourish other Elk Grove neighbors.

Elk Grove comes together in a crisis. The Food Bank needs us.

The Food Bank has seen a 400% increase in requests for help since the pandemic took hold. Please consider leading your neighborhood in the Elk Grove Pantry Challenge to help stock the shelves. Contact your neighbors and ask them to box up donations and leave them on their driveway. Pick everything up on a specific day to deliver the donations to the Food Bank (don’t forget your gloves and mask). It could be a great family service activity!

To learn more about some of the specific needs shared by the Food Bank or to coordinate a large delivery, contact the Elk Grove Food Bank at (916) 685-8453 or elkgrovefoodbank.org.

Please consider helping where you can. We’re in this together.
