Project Purpose and Overview
This is a joint project between City of Elk Grove and Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD). The City will design and construct new sidewalk along the east side of Elk Grove Florin Road from Castle Park Drive to south of Parkside Drive. This also includes added or enhanced pedestrian crossings of Elk Grove Florin Road to connect to the existing path system within Elk Grove Park. A new flashing crossing light will be installed at Lismore Drive. After completion of construction, EGUSD will implement a 2-year program to encourage pedestrian and bicycle use of the new improvements.
Project Status
The City has completed design of the project and relocation of existing power poles is starting during November 2020. Elk Grove Water Service has completed relocation of their facilities. All right of way acquisitions have been completed. The City has requested allocation of construction funds from the California Transportation Commission at the December 2-3, 2020 meeting. The City will bid the project during December 2020 to January 2021 and award the construction contract in February 2021. Utility relocations will continue until start of the sidewalk construction in March-April 2021 dependent on weather.
