Current Application Period Closes June 30

Do you know a notable Elk Grove native or resident that deserves recognition? Nominate them to receive Elk Grove’s Key to the City.

The Key to the City is a symbolic gesture of appreciation and welcome bestowed by the Elk Grove City Council to individuals with significant accomplishments in professional or amateur sports, the entertainment industry, military service, public service, humanitarian efforts and residents reaching the age of 100 years old. Receiving a Key is one of the City’s highest honors.

The City has presented five keys to the City since the program’s inception in 2013. Past recipients include NASCAR driver Kyle Larson, California Assemblymember Jim Cooper, Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, centenarian Josephine Finley Prince, and Elk Grove historian, Elizabeth Pinkerton. A sixth key will be presented to professional race car driver, Joey Hand, later this year.

Nominations submitted by June 30 will be considered by the City Council in July. Recipients will be presented their Key during the 6th annual Multicultural Festival on August 26.

A simple online application can be completed in 5 minutes. The application is available at For more information, contact the City Manager's Office at (916) 627-3469.
