Residents and their furry friends are invited to join the City of Elk Grove for the second annual
Wag N Walk, a fitness event for people and pets. Online registration is now open for the event scheduled on Saturday, June 3 at Elk Grove Regional Park (9950 Elk Grove-Florin Road).

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. Walkers and their 4-legged buddies will take the 1.4 mile stroll around Elk Grove Regional Park where they will encounter pawstops along the way like the VCA hydration station, Pet Club Bone Bar and other interactive booths. Registration for the walk is $15 and includes a t-shirt for bi-peds and a special gift for each pet. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Elk Grove’s future animal shelter.

The City of Elk Grove assumed responsibility for its Animal Services in 2005. Field services are currently provided by City staff through the Elk Grove Police Department. Shelter services are currently contracted with the County of Sacramento. Plans to construct a17,000 square foot Elk Grove animal shelter at the corner of Iron Rock Way and Union Park Way are in the design phase and the Council will consider the project during their June 14th meeting.  If approved, construction is expected to be complete before the current contract for shelter services expires on June 30, 2019.

Visit to register for the 2017 Wag N Walk graciously sponsored by Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru, Pet Club, VCA Animal Hospitals, Cosumnes Community Services District, Now 100.5, Keep Moving Mama, Bark & Bathe, and Pooch Sitters.
