Weekend Events Traffic Advisory: May 15-17

Events scheduled in Elk Grove May 15-17 are expected to generate higher than normal traffic volumes in Old Town and east Elk Grove this weekend.  Motorists who do not wish to attend these events are advised to take Bond Road or Grantline Road as alternate routes for east or westbound travel.

Festivities begin on Friday, May 15, with the City’s Boots on the Boulevard event.  Railroad Street will be closed and traffic on Elk Grove Blvd is expected to be higher than your typical Friday night.  This outdoor concert experience presented by the Howard Hughes Corporation, City of Elk Grove, Old Town Elk Grove Foundation and the Rotary Club of Laguna Sunrise will feature a performance by Nashville country artist, Craig Campbell inside the Old Town Plaza.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $20 per person and available online at

Saturday, May 16, brings the 8th annual Old Town Elk Grove Chili Festival.  Festivities will be held in the Old Town Plaza and along Railroad Street from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Railroad Street and a portion of Grove Street will be closed between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for the event.  Details about the international and amateur chili competitions as well as the festival and its new craft brew competition are available on the Elk Grove Chili Festival’s Facebook page.

Lastly, the Portuguese Fraternal Society of America (PFSA) will host their annual Festa do Espirito Santo on Sunday, May 17.  This annual celebration takes place at the SES Hall (10428 East Stockton Blvd).  A parade of the princesses will take place from Noon to 1:00 p.m. from the SES Hall along East Stockton Blvd to Hampton Oak Drive and returning to the SES Hall.  East Stockton Blvd will be closed at Elk Grove-Florin Rd. on the north and Grantline Road from the south during the parade.  Motorists are encouraged to use Waterman Road or West Stockton Blvd as alternative north/south routes during the event.
