Elk Grove, Calif. —
Extensive tree work is scheduled on Elk Grove-Florin Road between Valley Oak Lane and East Stockton Boulevard beginning Tuesday, August 25.  The work will continue efforts started earlier this month to address safety hazards and maintain trees identified in two independent arborist reports provided to the Public Works Department.

The City has been working closely with arborists to evaluate the health and condition of several trees along this corridor adjacent to Elk Grove Regional Park.  Two independent arborist reports recommended the removal of 14 oak trees due to disease and safety concerns.  Five trees were removed earlier this month that the arborist reports characterized as imminent safety hazards (see photo).

Eight other trees in varying stages of decline, beyond any hope for recovery, will be removed August 25-31.  These trees have been marked with yellow caution tape for public and City identification.  Maintenance pruning for other trees in the area will be done during the first two weeks in September.

Message boards have been placed on Elk Grove-Florin to alert motorists of the upcoming work.  Motorists can expect lane closures and traffic control in effect during the tree removal process.
