Youth Commission
The Youth Commission serves as an Advisory body to the Elk Grove City Council representing the current needs and issues of the city’s youth. Each month the Commission formally meets to discuss current news, upcoming programs, existing policies and other pertinent subject matters. The Commission regularly reports back to the City Council with information and recommendations on topics related to youth.
Below are Council-approved objectives that the Youth Commission have been slated to address each fiscal year.
| A. | Develop and maintain a three-year action plan outlining areas for study by the commission. |
| B. | Review issues relating to programs and services for children and youth. |
| C. | Identify and recommend priorities among programs and services for children and youth. |
| D. | Create a forum for discussion with children, youth and their families. |
| E. | Advocate for services and programs for children and youth. |
| F. | Make recommendations for programs, policies, and necessary legislation to promote the health and well-being of children, youth and their families. |
| G. | Work with the public and private sectors to bring forth the concerns of children and youth as well as evaluate programming that will enhance the development of children and youth. |
| H. | Develop a communication network to disseminate information about services to children and youth. |
| I. | Submit a quarterly report to the Mayor and City Council. |
| J. | Meet with their respective Councilmember once a month. |

Come join your peers to discuss issues related to self esteem on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. We'll cover a variety of topics ranging from teen relationships to acceptance and diversity.
