Overview

The Elk Grove Multicultural Festival showcases the diversity of cultures in our community through dance, dress, music, food, and art.  The 2018 Festival will once again be hosting an art show in the beautiful pavilion of Elk Grove Regional Park., 9950 Elk Grove-Florin Rd, Elk Grove, CA. 

The Art Competition

The art, which is automatically entered into a competition for ribbons, can be for "Display Only" or “For Sale”.  Any sales will be made after the Festival as a private transaction between the buyer and the artist. A maximum of four entries per artist will be permitted.  Of the up to four art pieces that may be submitted by the artist, one of the four can be of a "general" theme.  Art can be in the form of two dimensional art, for example (e.g.), painting, photography, original prints, etcetera (etc) or three dimensional art (e.g. sculpture, glass, mixed media, etc.).  In selecting your submissions for the art show, please remember that the Elk Grove Multicultural Festival is a family event – promoting a respect of all cultures.

Eligibility:

High School Students and Adults.

Fee & Deadline for Entry:

No Fee. Emailed by August 10, 2018. Deadline is firm.

Show Type:

Juried artwork. Judge, Yoshio Taylor, MA Professor of Art - CRC

Medium:

Original oil, acrylics, drawings (pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolors, sculpture, photography & mixed media. No Gouache Medium, Giclée, or Air Brush.

Competition:

Ribbons awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, place, Best of Show, and People’s Choice.

Limit:

Up to Four (4) entries.

Eligible Art:

All work should be original—conceived and created solely by the entering artist. Must specify artwork is “For Sale” or “Display Only”. Due to limited space, first come first served.

Receiving Date:

Friday, August 24, 2:30p.m. to 6:00 p.m. At the Elk Grove Regional Park Pavilion, 9950 Elk Grove-Florin Road, Elk Grove, CA.  Be sure to label your work and prepare a display card for your pieces with your name and address, title, price and include the same with your jpeg.

Art not selected for the Show:

You will be notified immediately.

Date of Pickup for Show Entries:

Saturday, August 25 at 5:15 p.m. after the show at Elk Grove Park Pavilion 9950 Elk Grove-Florin Road, Elk Grove, CA. Art not picked up will be set aside for donation fund raising purposes.

Security/Liability:

All reasonable care will be taken in handling artwork, however our officers and volunteers will not be responsible for loss or damage to paintings or other artwork. We do suggest you carry separate insurance on your artwork.

Framing:

Frames must be in good condition and paintings must be wired for hanging—no saw tooth hangers. If unframed, the sides must be finished—no staples or ragged edges.  No exceptions.

Size limitations:

Works may be no larger than 36” x 40” on any one side. Three-dimensional pieces are subject to approval. Indicate width and length size of each piece of art:  Example: Width (W)  Length (L)  not to exceed 36” x 40”. 

Application Information:

Each artist is strongly encouraged to submit an artist statement to better introduce the artist to the community.

Ribbons:

Ribbons for First Place, Second Place, Third Place, Honorable Mentional and Best of Show, will be awarded. Ribbons will be placed on the winning artwork in the Pavilion by 10am on the day of the festival.  The People's Choice Award will be presented at the end of the show at 4:30pm.

Music and other cultural presentations will again be featured at the Pavilion throughout the day.  A schedule of the Pavilion featured presentations will be posted in the festival program.  The program will be available on the day of the festival.
