Utility Billing
EFT Guidelines
Welcome to the City of Elk Grove Utility Billing EFT! As an EFT customer, we would like to explain how we process our EFT drafts, so that you can understand how we collect the EFT payment. If you have any questions, please call us at 916-478-3642.
| 1) | Once you have completed the EFT draft sign-up form by the requested date, we will enter your account information into our system. We will test the account number with your bank to ensure that we will be able to successfully draft your account on the EFT due date. Once this “test” has been accomplished, you will be entered to draft on the next bill cycle. (We bill on the odd numbered months) |
| 2) | When we calculate your next bill, the system will automatically set-up your account to pay your current account balance. This will include any late-fees, miscellaneous charges (extra pickups, bulky waste, etc.), declined payments, credits or adjustments that make up your current balance. Once the bill is generated, you will receive a Utility Bill that says “AUTO-PAY DO NOT PAY” on it. This statement will also show you the amount that will be drafted 10 days before the statement due date. |
| 3) | If you make a payment by check in addition to your EFT, your EFT will still draft the amount that is shown on your statement. Because this is automatically generated at the time bills are processed, any overpayments will not impact the EFT draft, and the entire draft amount will be taken out of your account on the EFT draft date. |
| 4) | If you do make an additional payment, the next bill cycle will again process your current balance and will not draft any more than what is due. (if your City of Elk Grove Utility account balance is $0.00, then we will not draft anything from your bank account) |
| 5) | If you would like to cancel or change your account information, please contact the Utility Billing Dept. at 916-478-3642, or click on the EFT Cancel/Change link, and we will send you the proper paperwork to complete this process. We cannot take any EFT draft information over the phone as we must have in writing the information along with your signature. |
