Public Information
Under the guidance and leadership of the City Council, the City of Elk
Grove is committed to communicating with our customers – residents
and businesses, prospective job creators, key policy decision
makers, the media, and the public-at-large. To facilitate the
accomplishment of this important objective, the City has established
a Public Information Department with the following responsibilities:
Economic Development
- Business community liaison and job retention activities
- Marketing the City to prospective job creators
- Assisting with the creation of new, high-quality jobs in Elk Grove
Intergovernmental Relations
- Local/Regional/State/Federal government relations
- Educating key decision makers about City policy objectives
- Legislative tracking and advocacy

Christine Brainerd
Public Information Officer
Christine
Brainerd joined the City of Elk Grove with a background in public
relations and journalism. Her experience also includes community
outreach, event planning and advertising. Christine’s career started in
journalism. She has written for The Sacramento News & Review and worked
on the assignment desk at KTXL-TV FOX-40 News. She has also served as
public relations co-chair for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation and as co-president of the International Association of
Business Communicators (IABC).
Christine has been the recipient of multiple awards for her work through the Sacramento Public Relations Association (SPRA), California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO), Sacramento Ad Club and International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
She is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento with a bachelor’s degree in communications studies (public relations emphasis) and journalism minor.
