Under the guidance and leadership of the City Council, the City of Elk Grove is committed to communicating with our customers – residents and businesses, prospective job creators, key policy decision makers, and the media.
The Public Information Office is responsible for the City’s newsletter, the City’s Website and community calendar, press releases, advertising, marketing, public and community relations, speech writing, special events, community outreach and public meetings. Additionally, the Office organizes all City special events, groundbreakings and grand openings for city projects, and provides marketing/public information support to all City departments and programs.
Christine Brainerd
Public Information Officer
Christine Brainerd joined the City of Elk Grove with nearly a decade of experience in the fields of communications and journalism. As Public Information Officer, she is responsible for managing the city’s communications, marketing and advertising programs.
Christine’s career began in journalism. She has written for the Sacramento News & Review and worked on the assignment desk at KTXL FOX 40. She has worked for two Sacramento area public relations agencies, and was responsible for managing local and statewide social marketing programs. Christine has served as public relations chair for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and as co-president of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
Christine has been the recipient of multiple awards for her work through the Sacramento Public Relations Association (SPRA), California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO), Sacramento Ad Club and International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
She is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento with a bachelor’s degree in communications studies (public relations emphasis) and journalism minor.
