Elk Grove is home to a variety of gyms and fitness studios, offering everything from cross training to Zumba. If joining a gym or paying for classes isn’t in your budget, check out these options:

  • Use the Cosumnes CSD’s Park Search Tool at www.yourcsd.com to find locations of the 12 CSD parks offering FREE use of adult fitness equipment.
  • Go from couch to 5K—start your training on the City’s 5K and a 10K training routes marked along Franklin, Laguna and Elk Grove Creek.
  • Hit the trail! With more than 28 miles of local bike trails, there are several places to get a ride in. Download the Citywide Bike Map at elkgrovecity.org or pick one up at City Hall or your local library.

carl tireRoll those Old Tires to the Special Waste Collection Center this Week

The City of Elk Grove is hosting a tire collection event January 10-13 at the Special Waste Collection Center. Any resident from Sacramento County can drop off waste tires for FREE between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm and the City will recycle them.  Clean out the clutter and support a healthier environment!

Accepted Tires:

  • Standard vehicle tires
  • Truck “over-the-road” tires
  • Bicycle tires
  • Tires with rims

Non-Accepted Tires:

  • Agricultural tires
  • Tires with insects or rodents living in them
  • Tires contaminated with concrete, bolts, screws, etc.
  • Tires that could pose a danger to collection staff

Dispose of up to nine tires (per household and per vehicle). Business tire waste is not permitted under this program.  For more information, contact the Special Waste Collection Center at (916) 627-3232 or visit www.elkgrovecity.org and follow the links under Garbage and Recycling.


Fundraising Campaign for Elk Grove’s Sister City Ends January 15th

The City of Elk Grove and the Laguna Sunrise Rotary Club urge residents to consider giving the gift of shelter to families in need in Elk Grove’s sister city, Concepción de Ataco in El Salvador.  A Go Fund Me campaign, managed by the Rotary Club, is under way to raise $15,000 to build 10 homes for families displaced by storms in El Salvador.
