Dr. Bernice Bass de Martinez

On Tuesday, April 16, the City of Elk Grove’s Multicultural Committee commemorate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Letter from Birmingham Jail. The influential essay articulates the principle that "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," and is a powerful reminder of how the struggle for civil rights had its start. Committee member and CSUS Foreign Languages Department Chair Dr. Bernice Bass de Martinez read King’s letter, explain the significance, and facilitate a community discussion. The discussion was on Tuesday, April 16 at the Multicultural Committee meeting. For more information contact Christine Brainerd at 916-478-3632 or cbrainerd@elkgrovecity.org.
