Solicitation of Applications for City of Elk Grove
Affordable Housing Loan Committee
Elk Grove, CA - The City of Elk Grove encourages professionals that are in the field of affordable housing development and finance, and associated with a local non-profit or not-for-profit affordable housing advocacy group, to apply for membership to the Affordable Housing Loan Committee.
The Affordable Housing Loan Committee will provide recommendations to City Council regarding applications for loans from experienced affordable housing developers for their proposed projects. Loans are made available from the Affordable Housing Fund and Very Low Income Housing Trust Fund fee programs and historically have been used for construction financing. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be registered to vote, and be a citizen of the United States in good standing. Each member must possess experience in affordable housing development and finance. Committee members are not required to be residents of the City, but must have an interest in promoting the development of affordable housing in the City. The City is looking to fill one Committee member position. The individual selected for this position on the Committee will work with City staff, the City’s Finance Director and a Building Industry Association representative to make loan recommendations to City Council. The individual selected for this position will play an important role in determining which developers and their respective projects will receive potentially significant financial assistance from the City.
The City is also seeking an alternate Committee member and is accepting applications for that position as well. Alternate Committee members must meet the same criteria as appointee members and shall serve on the Committee in the event a regular member submits a loan request and is unable to review his or her own loan request, or for any other important reasons a regular member is unable to review a loan request.
The appointee member and the alternate member for the Committee are volunteer positions. Committee members are subject to conflicts of interest laws applicable to appointed government officials.
The City of Elk Grove City Council with Resolution 2007-261 established the powers and duties of the Affordable Housing Loan Committee, including the committee structure, member qualifications and term.
An application and copy of Resolution No. 2007-261 are available at the Office of the City Clerk, 8380 Laguna Palms Way, Elk Grove, California 95758 and are posted on the City’s Web site at www.elkgrovecity.org. Completed applications must be returned to the City Clerk no later than May 15, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. Questions about the application process may be directed to Jennifer Estrella, Housing Division at 916-627-3409.
