Elk Grove Library
The City of Elk Grove, in partnership with the Sacramento Public Library, announced the purchase of a new 13,785-square-foot building located in the heart of Elk Grove, which will be transformed into the Elk Grove Library.
Located at the entrance to Old Town Elk Grove, the two-story building, on the high-visibility southeast corner of Elk Grove Boulevard and Elk Grove-Florin Road, will feature a newly-revitalized library collection, special space for teens, cutting-edge technology, a much needed community meeting room, and more.
Group 4 Architects using the Library Program developed by Library Planning Specialist Linda Demmers, have developed a design that was discussed at a community meeting on November 13 and reviewed by the City Council on December 12, 2007. The Project has been advertised and Contractors are invited to submit bids for the construction work necessary to convert the office building into a City library.
It is anticipated that the new library construction will commence in April and move-in from the current leased branch at 8962 Elk Grove Boulevard, will commence in fall 2008.

The Elk Grove Public Library has a wealth of library materials that can be found in books, magazines, periodicals, audios, videos, CD's and DVD's. There are 23 computers available to the public, free of charge. Patrons can access the library catalog, the Internet, or do word processing.

The Franklin Community Library is unique in California because it is the largest joint venture school/public library in California. It is jointly managed by the Sacramento Public Library and the Elk Grove Unified School District.
