Temporary Moratorium on Residential and Commercial Evictions

Posted: 04/06/2020

On March 25, 2020, the City of Elk Grove passed an urgency interim ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on residential and commercial evictions. This applies to all residential tenants and most commercial tenants who are unable to pay rent due to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The moratorium is in effect through May 31, 2020 and the City Council may extend it.

We have created an Evictions and Foreclosures FAQ page to try to answer as many questions as possible. View the full version of the Ordinance.

If you have additional questions regarding a residential tenant issue, please contact Sarah Bontrager at (916) 627-3209 or sbontrager@elkgrovecity.org.
