The City Council awarded a construction contract at the May 13, 2020 council meeting. Construction should start by July 2020. This area will be mostly passive park space and include habitat restoration of wetlands, native grasslands and preservation and expansion of the native oak forest. Site amenities will include a network of trails, benches, picnic tables, wetland area overlooks, open meadow, outdoor exercise equipment, play equipment, and interpretive signs to create a serene gathering place at the heart of our community. The City of Elk Grove will receive a $3 million Land Water Conservation Fund Grant by California State Parks, which will be applied to the construction cost.
