Roundabout Opens a Day Early

Traffic Advisory: Roundabout at Bradshaw and Sheldon Roads Opens a Day Early

Posted: 08/06/2018

The City of Elk Grove Public Works Department will open the new roundabout at the intersection of Sheldon Road and Bradshaw Road a day ahead of schedule and in time to serve the Monday afternoon commute. Access through the roundabout will open today, August 6, at 3:00 pm.

The intersection of Bradshaw Road and Sheldon Road has been closed since May 29 to expedite construction of the roundabout and re-opening of the roadway prior to the start of the new school year.

The $4.5 million project, consisting of a multi-lane roundabout and bridge, is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce flooding risks in the area. The project was constructed by Graniterock of San Jose, CA in conjunction with TRC (Sacramento, CA). This is the second roundabout installed in eastern Elk Grove in two years. A roundabout at Sheldon and Waterman Roads was opened on August 8, 2016.

The new roundabout will be open to traffic beginning today, however work will continue in the area through September to address “punch list items” including installing artwork and other improvements in the center of the roundabout, reinstalling property fences, and performing general site cleanup.
