Posted: 08/28/2018

Finance Dept Staff ImageReports detailing the dollars and cents of the city’s financial activity have recently earned Elk Grove’s Finance Department two prestigious awards.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), a nonprofit association representing more than 19,000 government finance professionals, has awarded the City its Certificate for Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Financial Reporting for the City’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). Both reports provide information for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2017.

Award entries were evaluated by industry panels and recognized for “demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups” to learn more. The City has received the CAFR award the last sixteen consecutive years. The PAFR award has been received every year for the past nine years.

“Our Finance Department works extremely hard to monitor and report the City’s spending and financial management,” said Interim City Manager, Jason Behrmann. “Ensuring our residents that we are using their tax dollars wisely and providing them with the best value and service for their investment is important to us as a government organization.”
