Press Release - Elk Grove Hires Assistant City Manager

Jason BehrmannMr. Behrmann has more than 19 years of experience within local City governments. He comes to Elk Grove from the City of Galt where he most recently served as the City Manager, and previously, the Assistant City Manager. Mr. Behrmann has been responsible for transforming the City of Galt into a business friendly, economic development focused organization with a comprehensive economic development strategy that included collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and business visitation program. Recent achievements include spearheading a major historic downtown revitalization, completion of the Central Galt Interchange and Twin Cities Roundabouts, leading efforts to attract the San Joaquin Delta College Education Center to Galt, overseeing a ballot measure initiative that increased sales tax by . percent to fund police services and negotiating with Wilton Rancheria on a new Indian gaming project within the City’s Sphere of Influence. 

Mr. Behrmann joins the City of Elk Grove in an exciting time as it builds momentum with its Southeast Policy Area (SEPA). The 1,200 acre master plan area situated west of Highway 99, north of Kammerer Road, is Elk Grove’s first city-initiated master plan since incorporation in July 2000. Mr. Behrmann’s primary focus will be working with Public Works, Planning and Building to assist in guiding future growth to our great city. “The City of Elk Grove has a great reputation as a progressive and innovative organization that mirrors my own values and priorities. Elk Grove has ambitious plans for its future and I am excited to work with staff and Council to help make those plans become a reality”, said Behrmann. 

Elk Grove City Manager, Laura Gill said “We are very excited to have Jason join the City of Elk Grove. His experience in City leadership, coupled with his proven track record of change and innovation will be a valuable addition to the management and development for the City of Elk Grove.” 

Mr. Behrmann earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University. He holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University.
