Press Release - City Joins Regional Economic Development Council

Posted: 06/26/2015

On Wednesday, the Elk Grove City Council unanimously voted to adopt a resolution authorizing a one year economic development agreement between the Greater Sacramento Area Economic Council and the City of Elk Grove.

Greater Sacramento is a newly formed non-profit regional economic development organization marketing the Sacramento region statewide, nationally, and internationally, on behalf of its business and government members.  Created and led by regional CEOs, the organization strives to retain, attract, grow, and create sustainable businesses throughout the region’s six counties and 23 cities.

“Their goal is to position the Sacramento region as the best place to do business in the state and in the country and our goal is the same,” said Darrell Doan, the City’s Economic Development Director.

The agreement provides Elk Grove with a representative on the Board of Directors, participation in the Economic Development Directors Taskforce, a set of performance targets set by the Board of Directors, participation in marketing events, and assistance for specific business location projects.
