Biography
Jim Estep
Interim City
Manager
Jim Estep has over 18 years experience in city government. He first served as Assistant City Manager/Administrative Services Director for the City of San Ramon, and prior to that as the Public Services Director.
Mr. Estep served as the first Public Services Director for the City of San Ramon. In his role as Public Services Director, he participated in the development of the master plan for San Ramon's street landscaping and helped expand the city's park system from 3 to 20 parks. During his tenure, the city also built an aquatics center, senior center, service center and library.
In April 2003, Mr. Estep joined the City of Folsom as Assistant City Manager for Administration. He was responsible for overseeing the operations of the City's Administrative Services, City Clerk's Office, Library, Personnel, Government and Media Relations, City Council Services and Public Information.
In addition, Mr. Estep played a leadership role in planning for Folsom's future growth. He helped ensure infrastructure and facilities growth kept pace with the needs of local residents and businesses.
In February 2006, Mr. Estep joined the City of Elk Grove as Assistant City Manager for Development Services. He was responsible for overseeing the operations of the Public Works Department, Planning Department, Housing Division, Building Division, and Transit Services.
In the fall of 2007, Mr. Estep was appointed as Interim City Manager by the City Council. In his role as Interim City Manager, Mr. Estep is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of all City departments.
Mr. Estep has a bachelor's degree in ornamental horticulture and an MBA, with an emphasis in finance and marketing, from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
