Dog and Cat License
For public health and safety reasons, dog and cat license are required in the City of Elk Grove. The application is easy and available for download below or a hard copy can be picked up at City Hall.
Licenses can be purchased for up to three years and require proof of current rabies vaccination, and microchip registration card. Licenses are only valid for the duration of the rabies vaccine. In order to be eligible for the ALTERED fees, animal owners must provide a copy of the animal’s neuter certificate.
An additional requirement to the animal license application has been added to the City of Elk Grove ordinance, which requires all animal license applications to include a copy of the microchip registration card for that dog or cat. Currently, licensed dogs or cats are exempt from the micro-chip procedure for up to one (1) year or the next licensing period, whichever is first, after the adoption of the ordinance codified in this chapter.
